Jon Hamm to Play Archangel Gabriel in Neil Gaiman's Amazon Series 'Good Omens'

Gaiman, who's serving as showrunner for the in-production project, explained.

“Once we had finished writing Good Omens, back in the dawn of prehistory, Terry Pratchett and I started plotting a sequel. There would have been a lot of angels in the sequel. When Good Omens was first published and was snapped up for the first time by Hollywood, Terry and I took joy in introducing our angels into the plot of a movie that was never made. So when, almost thirty years later, I started writing Good Omens for TV, one thing I knew was that our angels would have to be in there," Gaiman said in a statement. "The leader of these angels is Gabriel. He is everything that Aziraphale isn't: he's tall, good-looking, charismatic and impeccably dressed. We were fortunate that Jon Hamm was available, given that he is already all of these things without even having to act. We were even more fortunate that he's a fan of the books and a remarkable actor.”

Als Good Omens zum ersten Mal veröffentlicht wurde und zum ersten Mal von Hollywood aufgeschnappt wurde, haben Terry und ich uns eine Spaß daraus gemacht, unsere Engel in die Handlung eines Films, der nie gemacht wurde, einzuführen. Als ich fast dreißig Jahre später angefangen habe, Good Omens für die TV-Serie zu schreiben, wusste ich, dass unsere Engel dort sein müssten. Der Anführer dieser Engel ist Gabriel. Er ist alles, was Aziraphale nicht ist: er ist groß, gut aussehend, charismatisch und tadellos gekleidet. Wir hatten Glück, dass Jon Hamm zur Verfügung stand, da er schon all diese Dinge ist, ohne auch nur noch handeln zu müssen. Wir waren noch glücklicher, dass er ein Fan der Bücher und ein bemerkenswerter Schauspieler ist. "
