Jessie J (born Jessica Cornish, c. 1988) is a singer/songwriter from the United Kingdom. She is signed to the UK label Island Records and the U.S. label Lava Records under the Universal Music Group.

Cornish is from London, and acted on stage as a child in a West End production of Whistle Down the Wind.After suffering heart trouble and a minor stroke at the age of 18 Cornish honed her craft, devoting hour upon hour to music soon after, she found success as a songwriter, co-writing the Miley Cyrus hit "Party in the USA" with producer Doctor Luke, and writing for Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and Christina Aguilera. She has been hailed by Timberlake as "the best singer in the world right now".Her groundbreaking single "Sexy Silk" appears on the soundtrack to the 2010 comedy film Easy A. Her debut album Who You Are is set for release in the near future. Her single, "Who You Are" debuted in the third installment of the Step Up series, Step Up 3D (2010).Jessie J is slated to debut her single "Do It Like a Dude" on 2 January 2011.

Jessie J has won the 'Critic Choice Award 2011' at the Brits, it has been announced.

Last week, the 'Do It Like A Dude' singer was named alongside The Vaccines and James Blake in a shortlist. The prestigious award, previously won by Ellie Goulding, Adele and Florence and The Machine, is given to who the critics tip to achieve mainstream success in the coming year.

"This is epic!" Jessie said of her win. "It has been a dream since I was a little girl to win a Brit. I can't believe it's happened!"

Writing on Twitter, she added: "Arghhhhh!!! Omg!!! I'm in shock and I'm tears!!! (sic)."

James Blake came second while The Vaccines settled for third place.

Jessie J will perform at the Brits launch event on January 13, which will be broadcast on ITV2 the following night.

The Brit Awards 2011 take place at London's O2 arena on February 15.
