I clearly remember everyone’s excitement when this Il Volo tour was about to begin. Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca couldn’t help sharing their enthusiasm and commitment in making a real notte magica out of each night for the people in the US. Long time fans and also the classic music lovers from the many regions of the country were anxiously expecting for this tour. And, in a blink of an eye we arrived in Atlanta – the last magical night in the States!

Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca arrived in Atlanta still thrilled for all the warmth and generosity of the audience in Miami. I bet they were still listening to all that crowd singing along Cielito Lindo! Not Americans, Cubans or Mexican singing, but fair fans of Il Volo expressing their love and appreciation.
Walking by the streets of Atlanta, having a break for a coffee, all the Il Volo crew was maybe anticipating the days when each one would take the way to his own home. At dinner, they seemed especially glad, sharing their happiness in the numerous videos published on the social networks and fondly collected for all the ilvolovers worldwide.
Il Volo in AtlantaThe day of the last concert was busy: the whole crew committed to get everything ready in the structure, all that is necessary to make the Notte Magica a reality once more. The Atlanta Symphony Hall is considered “average” compared to other venues used on this tour. Although being small and beautiful in its clean decoration, the theatre could bring intimacy and a complete focus on the artistic performance.
And the magical night arrived. Nancy and Judy, sitting on the first rows, told us their impressions after the concert, clarifying and enriching my partial view, miles distant, but linked to all videos or live transmissions shared, to not mention the chorus of thousand voices commenting in all networks. For Nancy, the first highlight was when the guys entered the stage and were welcomed by the enthusiastic audience. The theatre was sold out and the entire concert was a highlight. – said Judy.
Il Volo followed the awaited Notte Magica set list, enchanting everyone with each song. You are expecting a song, you have already heard that song so many times, but you have just been hit by something so incredibly magnificent… That is Il Volo live! The only complain of our girls is that they didn’t sing Grande Amore. For them – and also for us – Grande Amore is always a high point.
Each one of us is impacted by them in different ways. Music, memories and emotions can combine in thousand ways inside each person in the audience. This is amazing!
“Piero’s voice demands attention from the first note. I’m not very knowledgeable or trained in vocal music but Piero’s voice and performance was perfect. He was amazing.” – said Judy
“Piero never disappoints. His voice just blows your hair back and the roof off!” – said Nancy
“Gianluca is the foundation for most of the songs. His baritone voice is the perfect complement to the tenor voices. His passion while singing enhances the experience for those in the audience. He was amazing.” – Judy
“Gianluca was in great voice. His rich, baritone voice adds depth to the group, and when he does his solos, he has me at the first note.” – Nancy
“This young man’s tenor voice thrills my soul. Different than Piero’s but maybe more versatile, he (Ignazio) can sing anything. His performance like Piero’s and Gianluca’s was perfect and perfect for this project.” – Judy
“Ignazio is so versatile, and can sing anything, and then has that crazy sense of humor.” – Nancy
Il Volo in AtlantaI agree with Judy and Nancy… and I can add that the three together amplify all their individual skills. In the harmonies of many songs you can hear how the soft and dense base of Gianluca is invaded by the powerful voice of Piero and both are rocked by the soft and pervasive voice of Ignazio. The result is perfection.
This was not the first concert for Nancy and Judy. And both rank Atlanta as one of the best performances of Il Volo. They highlight the great work of Maestro Joseph Modica, conducting the amazing Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. They also told us:
“Piero, Ignazio & Gianluca’s solos were highlights. The talents of each young man are significant… their voices change my world.” – Judy
“It was amazing to see the guys receive standing ovations from a sold-out American audience.” – Nancy
“The individual personalities of the guys shine through between songs. Their adlibs are often funny or designed to make us smile. They put on an energetic and professional performance.” – Judy
“I like that the guys interacted with each other. I did miss them coming out into the audience.” – Nancy
Nancy and Judy were not able to choose the best part of this concert!
After the concert, it took place the best Meet & Greet of the tour – according to many ilvolovers. The guys were especially happy, walking and joking with the people; different from many reports of other M&Gs where you almost have to choose between the meet and the greet part, when there is only a minute to give a hug and take a photo. This meet and greet allowed the people to really greet the guys, with time enough to express how much everyone loved their performance.
Atlanta M&G was another show, with Il Volo songs playing in background, with the guys singing along sometimes. New performances solo, too! Ignazio sang a little bit of “Somebody to love” (Queen) and played the piano singing “Unchained Melody”. A delight for those who were there.
“The guys don’t like the air conditioning so the room got warmer but I understand that the cold air affects their voices. Piero, Ignazio & Gianluca were delightful and funny. They greeted their fans with enthusiasm and toward the end of the m&g Ignazio went to the piano and performed Unchained melody for the few of us still in line. It was an impromptu treat!” – Judy
“One of the best Meet & Greets I’ve attended. The guys were probably tired, but they were upbeat, charming, engaging with everyone. At one point, Ignazio played the piano, which was a special treat!” – Nancy
For sure a magical night!
And what I can say? I choose to follow Marcel Proust and think:
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
An Il Volo concert is not a new landscape for us, but it is always renewed by the thousands of eyes and hearts who shared with us the same emotions. These new eyes can bring us the many faces that a Notte Magica can assume for each one in each moment. You can’t agree or disagree with these impressions, because they are unique: the individual links between each one’s heart and mind.
